The Astronomical League is a federation of over 240 local astronomical societies all across the United States,
forming one of the largest amateur astronomy organizations in the world. Below are just a few things the League does:
- Fostering astronomical education
- Providing incentives for observation and research
- Assisting in communication between amateur astronomical societies.


The basic goal of the League is to encourage interest in astronomy - especially amateur astronomy.
The League wants people to get out and look through telescopes (whether it is your own telescope or someone else's) and view the beauty of the heavens.
