SN 2014J, the one that got away (from me). I routinely image the SN's host galaxy M-82 and did so the night the SN popped. But my exposure was so long the overexposed galaxy hid the SN. It was not until days later when the official discovery was announced that I went back and reprocessed my original images and spotted what I'd missed.
Images were taken on 14 January (night when I discovered SN2014G), 16 (when it first appeared on my images), 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 (night of the official discovery) and 22.
All images are 15 second exposures which I processed to reduce the glare of the galaxy and bring out the SN. All were taken with a Paramount ME, C-14 telescope operating at f/5.5 & ST-10XME camera binned 3x3. FOV is about 18 x 26 arc minutes. Software used: TheSky6, CCDSoft & Orchestrate.
