Animated eclipse images 2012-05-21
Taken at Blackrock Pass, Nevada on 5-21-2012 00:30-01:50UT. North is to lower right hand corner, and the Moon moves along the ecliptic from the east in the lower left-hand corner to the west in the upper right-hand corner. Per NASA eclipse calculator maximum eclipse was at 01:32:30.2UT. Altitude of Moon in these images ranged from approx. 28 deg. ending at approx. 10 deg. 72 frames of 477 were selected and processed in Photoshop. Meade 125ETX with glass solar filter, manual tracking, Canon D450 at 1/1200" at 10-15 sec. intervals. Low exposure time was selected due to local winds. O.P. at 38.5218N 115.8275W. The observing point was about 2 kilometers off the centerline. In order to accommodate internet bandwith, the original images were compressed here to 309x211 pixels.
