Here is M31, as I photographed it the morning of July 4, 2000 from
the Wedge. The overall view shows much more, but when I scanned it in I
cropped it down and enlarged this part. Also, the print was greenish when
the photo shop made the print, so I adjusted the color a bit. Anyway, it
was fun and amazingly easy photo to take. I just put my Nikon (50 mm lens)
on the bracket of my Celestron and had it track for about seven minutes.
It was at about f/2 opening. The film is good old Fujicolor 400.

Here's my first attempt at the Sagittarius region, taken the morning
of July 4, 2000 from the Wedge. It's about a five-minute exposure, with
my ancient Nikon F riding piggyback on my telescope while it tracked. The
opening was f/2, the lens 50 mm. and the film Fujicolor 400. I cropped
this somewhat and tried to adjust the color so it was more lifelike. The
black thing on the lower right is a juniper that blurred as the tracker
moved.

The Moon seems to take a chunk out of the Sun in Christmas Day 2000's
partial solar eclipse, as seen at 9:10 a.m. in a view from Salt Lake City.
Also visible is a fleet of sunspots, the dark spots on the face of the
Sun. Sunspots tend to be more common at this time of the 11-year solar
cycle. In Salt Lake City, the Moon covered only 23 percent of the Sun's
surface at the maximum extent of the partial eclipse. Photo by Joe
Bauman and Chuck Wing.

Lots of sunspots on 29 MAR 2001 from a residential neighborhood in
SLC. 1/30 sec, Fujicolor 200, Thousand Oaks solar filter & C-8.
I taped two tubes together to get more length between the camera and telescope,
enlarging the view a bit.
