Description: |
Time: Dusk-11:00PM Cost: Free
Special night: Will we see Pluto? SLAS volunteers will attempt to put Pluto on display. This is a tricky object to observe, will we be able to see it? Come find out!
The public is invited to join members of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society for a night under the stars. The observatory's three large telescopes will be open to the public. SLAS members will have additional telescopes of all shapes and sizes available as well. Come see the Moon and planets Venus and Saturn, distant galaxies that are millions of light years away. See nebula, star clusters, double stars and more. Learn about the constellations and star-lore that connect each of us to the night sky.
This event is family friendly (ages 3 to 99).
Star Party Tips: * Keep cell phones, lights, or other bright devices turned off. This helps preserve night vision. * Follow all safety signs and telescope operator instructions. * This is an outdoor activity. Dress appropriately and wear mosquito repellent (apply away from telescopes).
